End the Year in Style in The Lakes

In the last few months of the year, the renowned natural beauty of the Lake District sets a particularly magical scene.

From the crisper air and leaves gently tumbling to the woodland ground to the powder-covered winter wonderland, it is a wonderful time for a cosy getaway.

Nestled in all this splendour is the five-star Linthwaite House, the perfect base for those wanting to experience The Lakes in the utmost comfort and luxury.

The hilltop hideaway will greet you with a warm and inviting choice of exquisite mulled wine or a comforting spicy hot chocolate, setting the scene for the days of cosy relaxation and celebration that lie ahead.

Whether you fancy a lively game of boules on the sprawling lawns, an in-room spa treatment for private relaxation, or simply an afternoon curled up at the fireplace with a good book, you'll find it here.

To truly elevate your stay, our immersive dinner, bed and breakfast package offers the opportunity to indulge all your senses, from the supreme luxury of exceptional accommodation to the culinary delights at the award-winning Henrock restaurant by Simon Rogan. On top of that, we're delighted to offer you an exclusive and personalised cocktail-making masterclass, led by Henrock's world-class mixologist. Immerse yourself in the art of mixology and create bespoke cocktails that will tantalise your taste buds. It's a feast for the senses.

Those booking the special offer for two or more nights will also enjoy an array of exclusive add-ons. Awaken your senses each morning with a lavish English breakfast, a symphony of flavours that will start your day on a delightful note.

But that's not all; your stay offers the choice of either sailing into serenity on a tranquil lake cruise, where the shimmering waters and the gentle whispers of the wind will transport you to a different realm, or immersing yourself in the rich tapestry of history and culture with a visit to the historic Blackwell House or the whimsical House of Beatrix Potter. Last but certainly not least, if you’re travelling with your fur family, your pets can enjoy all the splendour free of charge.

As the soft light of autumn transitions to the twinkling lights of the festive season, we highly recommend soaking up the enchanting atmosphere of Ambleside's Christmas Lights Market on 18 November.

The festivities kick off with a morning cruise departing from Waterhead, taking you on a magical journey across Windermere in search of Father Christmas, while you enjoy the festive live music.

Following the cruise, a unique procession unfolds, led by Santa Claus himself on his sleigh. Children with lanterns and lively bands accompany him as they wind their way through the village, heralding the eagerly awaited moment of the Christmas light switch-on. Throughout the day, you can explore the festive markets brimming with holiday cheer.

As the day draws to a close, prepare to be spellbound by a spectacular firework display that is sure to leave you in awe.

But the festive magic doesn't stop there!

On 24 November, head to Cartmel for Christmas in Cartmel, a delightful community event that kicks off at 11 am. The heartwarming Christmas market offers a treasure trove of local crafts, gifts, and delectable food items, perfect for your holiday shopping.

Live music will serenade you throughout the afternoon and evening, adding to the festive ambiance. The village will be adorned with beautiful twinkling lights, creating a picturesque backdrop for your visit.

And, of course, don't miss the chance to meet Father Christmas himself, as well as fall in love with the majestic Friesian Black Horses.

Once you are ready to explore the surrounding area, head to Grizedale Forest, where a magical blend of woodland, lake and mountain converge to create the perfect canvas to savour the golden hues of autumn before the festive snowfall.

Explore one of the 10 different walking trails (many of which can be enjoyed by your furry friends, too), or opt for a bike rental for a more adventurous exploration. For an extra thrill, you can even glide through the forest on a segway.

For a multi-sensory embrace of the season’s delights, Low Wray Campsite offers a foraging and cooking workshop. Wander through picturesque landscapes and learn to create delectable, fresh dishes from nature's bounty.
