Linthwaite House receives national recognition
The team at Linthwaite House, Bowness-on-Windermere, in the Lake District, are celebrating after being named among the Telegraph’s Top 250 UK Hotels for 2026.
The Telegraph recently launched its Guide to the 250 Best Hotels in the UK, showcasing the very best that British hospitality has to offer. The selected hotels were assessed against a range of criteria, including location, character, service, facilities, rooms, food and drink, and value for money.
Each property featured in the guide has been independently reviewed by a network of 60 expert reviewers. The interactive guide allows readers to search for hotels by postcode or region and apply filters such as “dog friendly”, “city” or “accessible” to help find the perfect stay.
To ensure broad geographical representation, the UK was divided into nine regions across England, alongside Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. Telegraph Travel experts also awarded Regional Stars to the highest-calibre hotels in each area, with proportional weightings applied to Scotland, the South East and South West, which received two, three and four Stars respectively.
The 250 hotels featured were selected from more than 2,000 UK hotel reviews by Telegraph Travel’s expert Hotels team: Rachel Cranshaw, Hotels Editor; Emma Beaumont, Senior Commissioning Editor; Harriet Jones, Senior Content Editor; and Patrick Hamilton Courtney, Content Editor.
