Christmas at Linthwaite House begins well before December, with wreath-making workshops on 19 and 26 November 2026, held in partnership with Brackens of Bowness. Mulled wine is poured, mince pies are served, and for a couple of hours the only thing on the agenda is getting creative with foliage and ribbon. Everyone goes home with a wreath they have made themselves, which is considerably more satisfying than anything ordered online.
Celebrate Christmas Eve in Comfort
For those arriving on Christmas Eve, cream tea and mulled wine are available upon arrival. Guests can take a moment to settle into their room of choice before exploring the rest of the hotel and grounds.
A spa treatment is a lovely way to begin the stay, giving the body a chance to let go of the year before the festivities begin. If spending time with the family is a priority, there are plenty of activities to enjoy in the quaint villages nearby.
Dinner is served at Henrock by Simon Rogan MBE, where the à la carte menu changes with the seasons and showcases produce from some of the best local suppliers. Christmas Day begins with a full English breakfast at your leisure, followed by the simple pleasures of Christmas morning. Open presents, catch up over a cup of tea and enjoy being together before heading through to the main event.
A six-course Christmas lunch at Henrock takes centre stage, complete with all the traditional trimmings and views of Windermere through the windows. With every course enjoyed and bellies suitably full, the afternoon brings the King's Christmas broadcast, followed by board games and a festive quiz. Expect plenty of laughter, a few questionable answers and some unexpected competitive streaks.
Explore on Boxing Day
After two days of festive indulgence, Boxing Day offers a chance to explore the surrounding area and experience the landscapes that make the Lake District one of the most scenic regions in the country. A guided walk is available for those who would like to explore with the benefit of local knowledge along the way.
