CLIMATE The Lake District has a generally mild maritime climate characterised by ample rainfall. Winters are wet with some snow , and summers are relatively dry by comparison (average temperatures range from 0°C/32°F in January to 19°C/66°F in July). WHAT TO PACK : Layering is the way to go as the weather is unpredictable and can change rapidly in both summer and winter. Comfortable, sturdy shoes, a fleece and a waterproof jacket are recommended if you plan to go walking. Summer: c ool, light clothing, along with a sun hat, sunscreen, sunglasses and at least one warm sweater as the weather is changeable. Light jackets or jerseys a re recommended for the evenings.
